St. John's United Church of Christ is a small church with a big heart for mission and ministry. While we have not been able to do all the things we have wanted to do during the past months because of COVID, we have been busy listening to God and doing as God leads. Our church family and friends have been busy making free masks for the community. We provided a Summer Achievement Program for children, help hand out food at the Butler Food Distributions, assembled a ramp with the Mission Barn, hosted Trunk or Treat, and have participated in many other meaningful missions and activities to connect with others. We invite you to join us in shining the light of God's love in our church and community.
Christian Education & Spiritual Growth
While the church is not meeting in person, children's JAM Time (Jesus and Me) with Pastor Lisa are Wednesdays at 6:30 pm. Vespers for adults are Wednesdays at 7:30 pm. Both JAM Time and Vespers are streamed via Facebook and uploaded to YouTube.
Sunday children are integrated into our worship and also practice chimes for worship songs.
We also have monthly youth activities
Missions and Outreach
St. John's UCC believes in growing together and inviting others in. Just a few of St. John's outreach activities include the Evans City Food Cupboard, Neighborhood Academy, a Summer Achievement Program for children, and Butler Food Distribution.
Our building is open for community use for non-prophet groups like the The Lion's Club, Blue Kangaroo Closet and NAMI.
We are currently collecting items for Jubilee Kitchen.
St. John's has an active music program, including a praise team, choir, bell choir, and musicians. We are always ready to welcome new people into our music program. We provide a diversity in kinds and styles of music during our worship.
We practice each week on Wednesday nights.
6:00pm Praise Band
St. John's United Church of Christ has voted to be a WISE Church. WISE stands for Welcoming, Inclusive, Supportive, Engaged in the Mental Health Community. We are partnering with NAMI Butler to provide ministry to people with Mental Illness and their families. Our first goal is to educate our church family so we can better accept and welcome all.
The Garden Club keeps the church exterior beautifully adorned! Our gardeners meet the 2nd and 4th Saturdays each month from late Spring through the Fall.
St. John's hosts a quilters group, consisting of members and friends from the surrounding communities. In addition to personal projects, the quilters donate much of their work to those in need. The quilters meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month at 6 pm.
